The  Alexander Technique Gives You Time
First, consider this: Many habits happen in the blink of an eye. Many happen before we are conscious of them happening. Movement and postural patterns that we take for granted keep alive stories we have told ourselves about who we are and prevent our continued growth and learning.

Also consider: Habits and beliefs are the way brain works, predicting our expectations of reality, in the form of thoughts, feelings or sensations. It generally saves us time, yet can interfere with the human being's ingenious flexibility and attentiveness to adapt to possibilities that life presents.

Now consider: what would be possible if you intentionally prevent those habits? Habits are so complex and multi-layered, where do you start?

In the Alexander Technique, it begins with time, taking time to be aware. Just what happens between one moment and the next when moving from A to B.  What are you really doing in a simple movement like sitting to standing or shifting from one foot to the other? We begin with noticing a continuity in the flow of time and then developing the skill of preventing the mind from jumping ahead of the body or wandering off. It all grows from there. Then we develop of skill of taking time between A and B to inhibit unwanted thoughts, sensations or feelings.

As an Alexander teacher I promise to provide gentle, supportive hands-on guidance as well as honest conversation so that you can develop these skills of slowing down and inviting a presence of consciousness. My wish is that this practice leads to an experience of a natural coordination of mind and body that is spacious in time and coordinated in space.
